The Pittsburgh Film Office markets the greater southwestern Pennsylvania region as a great location for movie, television and commercial productions. Since its inception in 1990, the PFO has assisted more than 98 feature films and television productions to southwestern Pennsylvania to generate an economic impact of more than $458 million for the region. To facilitate filming in the Pittsburgh area, the PFO provides information on the region, locations, vendors and crew; and coordinates government and business offices in support of a production. It also serves as a conduit for information, providing assistance to local filmmakers and the local film industry throughout the region.

FILM TAX CREDIT INFORMATION: Thank you for all of your many letters, emails and phone calls in support of the Pennsylvania Film Tax Credit program. We are thrilled to announce that because of the great support for this valuable program, the Film Tax Credit Act of 2007 will continue! The Governor and the Pennsylvania Legislature can see the economic benefits and jobs the film production industry produces for the Commonwealth. That said, in this very difficult budget year, the cap has been set at $42 million. Next fiscal year the cap will increase to $60 million, continuing the tremendous expansion of the film industry in Pennsylvania! The Pennsylvania Film Office is accepting Film Tax Credit applications NOW for this fiscal year (ending June 30, 2010)!
